Lorraine creates paintings about the simple joys in life such as our loved ones and pets, our gardens and our connection with the natural world. Many of her paintings are inspired by the local landscape where she lives and works as an artist and therapeutic counsellor in Dorset.
Certain visual themes emerge. The landscapes are often views or pathways with a sense of anticipation about what lies ahead. Paintings in particular enjoy an exploration of mark making.
A whimsical 'Alice in Wonderland' - sense of story telling is apparent through the placement of figure in the landscapes alongside a sense of something transpersonal.
Lorraine also makes oil paintings and drawings about our inner world to inspire self awareness. Over the years she has explored many art disciplines but now works mainly in oils and coloured pencil.
Lorraine graduated with a BA Hons in Sculpture from Kent Institute of Art and Design in Canterbury in 1995 and has exhibited widely throughout the South of England and London in both group and solo shows throughout her art career.
In 2000 she completed at PGCE at The University of the West of England in Bristol qualifying her to teach Secondary Art and Design and she worked as and art and special needs teacher for almost twenty years. Between 2015 and 2019 Lorraine trained as an Integrative Counsellor at The Sweet Track Therapy Centre in Glastonbury. Setting up private practice in December 2019, she then achieved Accreditation with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in 2023.
